Mayabeque, Cuba_ Mayabeque producers expect to have in productive phase the lands for the cultivation of coffee for the year 2020, with the use of the advantages of science and technology.

With the increase of the areas and the cultural treatment to the plantations it is expected that the coffee growing production riches the 20 000 tons of the grain, as in that moment plain zones of Havana, Isla de la Juventud, Matanzas, Ciego de Avila and Camaguey are going to produce it, too.

To increase the depressed yields, from 0.14 tons per hectare reported at present, to 0, 36 tons, is one of the objectives for the period.

Another purpose is to substitute imports, because Cuba import about 8 000 tons of coffee which represent near 25 million dollars.
