Mayabeque, Cuba_  From June 6 to July 30, internal trade units and establishments of Mayabeque will develop the political process "My Moral Higher than the Turquino" and will begin to implement Norm 54, the guiding principle for consumer protection in domestic trade, which has among its objectives to strengthen and improve this system.

Natural and legal persons of the activity of the commerce, related to the sale of merchandise, gastronomy, technical, personal services and lodging, including to the own-account workers will participate in the valuation.

Rule 54 endorses the responsibility of suppliers in the inviolability of the consumer’s rights and regulates a basic group of those rights, among them, those of receiving products and services with the required quality, protection against false commercial advertising and Deceptive practices applied by suppliers, as well as the possibility of maintaining an adequate relationship between quantity-quality-prices.

Customers also have the right, as stated in the regulation, to check the weight of the product purchased, and to have a guarantee, compensation for the damages caused, among others.

The resolution also regulates the different instances in charge of dealing with claims and complaints and the terms to respond to people.

This regulation is in line with the country's willingness to face the current problem of consumer protection.

In this regard, it is the responsibility of the Ministry of Internal Trade (MINCIN) to propose and, once approved, direct, control and supervise the State and Government's policies regarding domestic, wholesale and retail trade, warehouse logistics and protection consumer.
