Mayabeque, Cuba_ The peasant tradition gains a new space in Mayabeque with the first Creciendo y Punto competition, sponsored by the Provincial Direction of Culture.

This is another of the efforts to strengthen the local identity, for which it is intended to link the Punto cubano with other manifestations of the arts.

Planned for next June, four teams of 14 members will participate in the event, each of them with five poets, four players, a tonada player, a painter, a writer and a dance partner.

Each group will have a pet, a color and a captain. The Red Roosters led by Héctor Gutiérrez, the Greens Horses under the direction of Aramís Padilla, the Blue Tigers leaded by Reibel Nodal and the White Lions of Idalberto Montero.

The contest begins in the trimester June, July and August with the presentation of the teams in the eleven municipalities of the province, in an approach to the public that will contribute to the promotion of the genre.

Then, in September and through a draw two teams will face each other in Nueva Paz and two in Güines in a demanding competitive modality created by the puntista Alexis Díaz Pimienta and that will be evaluated by a competent jury.

The grand final will be in October in San José de las Lajas. The competition has great pretensions: to achieve national reach in 2019 and international in 2020. This first edition will demand talent and quality.
