Mayabeque, Cuba_ The last report issued by the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INRH), places Mayabeque among the provinces of the country with less water storage, despite the rain that has fallen in the area for several days, resulting from the tropical depression Alberto.
Up to now, the total capacity of the reservoir, mainly in Mampostón and Pedroso, is covered at 46%. That figure does not reach half of the benefits left by the rains of Alberto over the central and eastern provinces.
Of the seven hydrogeological sections of the province, six are in a normal state. Although this is one of the provinces with less favorable indicators in the country, the situation is not critical and it is expected that the rainy season will favor the recovery of the reservoirs.
In Mayabeque the rains improved very little the amount of liquid retained in some reservoirs, enough to ensure agricultural, industrial and drinking water development that is needed in health, education and consumption in homes.
