Mayabeque, Cuba_ The strengthening of the artistic movement in the province was one of the most debated aspects of the Conference of the Culture Workers Union, held at the headquarters of the Provincial Assembly of People's Power in San José de las Lajas, about 35 kilometers from Havana, the Cuban capital.
To achieve this reinvigoration, it is necessary the correct functioning of the union sections, a better financial management and that in each work center all the structures that exist act more closely, in accordance with the social, economic, political and technological challenges imposed by the unions.
The General Secretary of the of Workers of Culture Union (SNTC), Nereida López Labrada, said: "the province of Mayabeque stands out for the effectiveness, unity, integration and working alliances with the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC), the Hermanos Saiz Association (AHS), the Union of Journalists of Cuba (Upec), the media and intellectuals and in this way contribute to preserve the unity of Cubans.”
López Labrada highlighted the protagonism of young people in artistic productions, the quality of their proposals and the level of commitment of the members of the José Martí Art Instructors Brigade, with the priorities of the culture sector.
The Vice Minister of Culture, Kinelma Carvajal, spoke about the essential aspects that define the actions of the sector at this time: the payment of the artistic personnel, the organization of work in the different institutions of culture and the proper execution of the budget. Later she added: "we must strengthen the policy of cadres and their reserves, the leadership of the institutions, implement spaces for exchange with creators, attend to representatives of the traditions such as the Punto Cubano and the movement of amateur artists."
At another point in her speech, the Vice Minister of Culture highlighted the contribution made by workers in the culture sector to the national system of Public Health, training in art schools and the preservation of heritage and the development of specialized critics.
In the Provincial Conference of the Culture Workers’ Union, the delegates from Mayabeque for the national meeting were approved: Indira la O Herrera (journalist of Radio Mayabeque, direct delegate) Héctor Gutiérrez Jiménez, Lázara Cisnero León, Pedro Rivero Pérez and Odelmis Creach Rodríguez , who was ratified as general secretary of the Workers of Culture Union in the province of Mayabeque.
