By agreement of the Council of State and by Order of the Chief of the Western Army, Major General, Onelio Aguilera Bermúdez, officers, sub officials, professional sergeants and sergeant soldiers, as well as civilians, received the medal 60th anniversary of the FAR, the condition of Distinguished and Outstanding Service in the preparation for defense.

A group of combatants received the card that accredits them as militants of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and the Young Communists League (UJC), which gave greater political value to the celebration, based in the School of Preparation for the Defense, First Commander Lizardo Proenza Sánchez, located in San José de las Lajas, about 35 kilometers from Havana, the Cuban capital.

The President of the Provincial Defense Council in Mayabeque, Juan Miguel García Díaz, said: "You, those who founded it, those who have worked so many years for this Army, to whom you have dedicated your best efforts and part of your lives, we know that you will remain as vanguards of the Revolutionary Armed Forces. "

In the presidency of the commemoration were also the Commander of the Revolution, Guillermo García Frías, founding leader of the Western Army, General of the Army Corps, Leopoldo Cintra Frías, Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), other military leaders, leaders of the PCC, the Government, the mass and the student organizations.

Before them paraded forces integrated by the infantry of the Mayabeque Military Region, the antiaircraft defense, blocks of future drill sergeants, tanquistas, the navy, special troops, students of the Camilo Cienfuegos Military Schools, the National Revolutionary Police (PNR), the Territorial Troops Militias (MTT) and the Music Band of the General Staff.

The military magazine was demonstrative of the War of the Whole People, bastion of the defensive system of the Revolution.
