Mayabeque, Cuba_ Mayabeque's youth basketball team won the bronze medal with a big 92-77 margin against Santiago de Cuba, in the National Youth Games of the discipline.

The disciples of Alberto Castillos arrived undefeated to the group stage, dominating the teams of Havana, Artemisa, Pinar del Río and Matanzas. They lost the last game and place second in that group.

Among the Mayabequenses highlighted Carlos Roque, Yosbel Stander and Jonathan Columbie, according to the prediction and equaled the third seat of the previous year.

The crown was awarded to the team from Havana with a closed score of 74 to 70 against Ciego de Ávila. The capital’s players took better advantage in the first three quarters of the game.

As for the women's competition, held in Havana, the hostesses won the crown by winning the final in Santiago, while Ciego de Ávila occupied the third place, an outcome that demonstrates the growing prospects of the Mayabequenses in the sport of the hoops and the baskets.
