Mayabeque, Cuba _ Güines’ athlete Lianna de la Caridad Montero Herrera did not believe in the best and great palmarés of her opponent, the Puerto Rican Nes Marie Rodriguez and defeated her 6 points to 1 in the women's wrestling final and was named monarch of the division of 57 kg.

Lianna went with decision to the fight area and did let the Puerto Rican breath until the fight ended. In this way, she won the second golden medal of the afternoon and contributed to Cuba's title in the Wrestling of the Central American and Caribbean Games.

Born on January 21, 1998, Lianna is participating since 2016 in international events. In February of that year in the American city of Frisco she participated in the Pan-American Championship and achieved the bronze medal in the 53 kg.

In June of 2017, she participated in the Pan-American Junior Women's Fighting Championship, in Lima, Peru, where she won the crown in the 55 kilograms. The event had the participation of 55 athletes from 14 countries.

In August 2017 Lianna won the silver medal also in the 55 kg in the Junior World Championship in Tampere, Finland. Montero coined a quartet of triumphs before losing 4-6 in the final with the Japanese Sae Nanjo. The Caribbean started the competition with a 9-4 dominance over China's Jing Liang.

Then she defeated the Turkish Elif Yanik 12-2, blanked 10-0 the Indian Pooja Gehlot in the quarterfinals and secured the second place with a balance of 4-3 at the expense of the Russian Viktoriia Vaulina. During the discussion of the crown, Nanjo stayed with the greatest joy, but that did not rest merits to a performance that brought the second prize of fighters to the Island in a world event of any category.

Lianna competed in the world competition for athletes under 23, in the youth and senior category that will enable the development of newcomers in the international arena led by Alexis Estrabao. The final result was the subtitle in the 66 kg.

In Frisco, United States, she dressed in continental bronze.

The capital’s Sports City is witness of her multiple battles with Canadian and North Americans counterparts, for example the multi-medalist of the world Helen Maroulis.
