Mayabeque, Cuba_ The atlete from Mayabeque, Juan Carlos Zaldívar Melián, achieved an important result in the Pan-American Weightlifting Championship, based in Manizales, Colombia, by winning two silver medals in the division of up to 94 kilograms.

The weight lifter, a native of the municipality of Güines and a three-time national youth champion, reached the second place in the push movement, lifting 190 kilograms and finishing second with 336.

In this Pan-American Championship Cuba also added a bronze medal through Melissa Aguilera, of Granma, in the division of up to 74 kilograms.

The leader by medals in this contest is Colombia with 23 gold, Venezuela has 4 and Ecuador with 3. With 2 gold medals are Peru, Mexico and the United States and then Cuba appears with two silver medals and one bronze, followed by Dominican Republic and Brazil.
