Mayabeque, Cuba_ A regional event of the gender axis of the Local Agricultural Innovation Project (PIAL) was held with the representation of diverse productive forms, with the joy of those who know themselves protagonists of the changes time of the Revolution.

The National Institute of Agricultural Sciences (INCA) welcomed the guests from the young province, as well as prominent producers from Pinar del Río.

The participants shared their experiences, including men who expressed their pride of the encouragement that represents the contribution of women, who infect with their enthusiasm, supported by encouraging results after the application of good practices for the sake of sustainable agriculture.

The coordinator of the gender thematic axis of the PIAL in Mayabeque, Idalmis Castillo Molina, referred to the work they are currently carrying out and the achievements of the axis in this new stage, in which the PIAL became a system with its acronym SIAL.

"It has achieved the incorporation of women in the different areas and productive spheres within the province of Mayabeque. The axis does not only work with women but also with men and now in this new stage of the project, we will approach young people as an important link, since it is about guaranteeing the present and the future. We work directly with the cooperatives, with the producers, the retired ones ".

Castillo Molina, producer of the Credit and Services Cooperative (CCS) Rolando Coella, of the municipality of San José de las Lajas, also meant the importance of the project and the impact on knowledge management in order to empower rural women.

"When the woman proposes a touch of beauty, of sensuality in the things we do, there will always be a different vision of the topics such as self-esteem; the woman has to learn to love herself because if we do not love ourselves, how will we love others? Women have to earn their space within the family and society”.

The meeting was chaired by the Doctor of Science Rosa Acosta Roca, National Coordinator of PIAL and Bárbara Martínez, provincial gender coordinator in Mayabeque. Those present enjoyed good peasant art with young artists from Casa de la Décima, belonging to the municipality of Güines.
