Mayabeque, Cuba_ The historic park of Melena del Sur focuses the attention of those who pass by or sit on their benches under the trees shadows, due to the complete restoration it is receiving since a few weeks ago to salute the 55th anniversary of the Literacy Campaign this year, the digital site of Mayabeque’s newspaper Mayabeque publishes.

The place where the Commander in Chief declared the municipality as the first territory free of illiteracy in Latin America, the monument erected to perpetuate that event, the plaque which recalls the passage of Antonio Maceo for the municipality and the legendary parish are some of the objects of deep historical value, included in the project which is carried out by Pyramids cooperative

With one percent of the profits of the companies dedicated to local development and part of the budget of the Municipal Administration, they placed 50 new benches, lampposts and perimeter fences. The landscaping, sidewalks and the park environment will also be benefited.
