Mayabeque, Cuba: The Base Business Unit (UEB) Cuba Nine, located in the municipality of Quivicán, carries out several alternatives to reduce imports and restore their production.

According to the director of the entity, Ignacio Calvo Rodríguez, they fulfill the plans of the semester with national raw material, produced in the same UEB.

Bond paper is the most used and it is totally imported. To reduce its acquisition, the unit takes measures through projects of the company itself, without affecting the workers.

Before the year 2017 this entity was dedicated to manufacture papers and currently it works in the conversion of cartons and other elaborations such as boxes and files.

In spite of having obsolete machinery, this center fights for the fulfillment of the plans and because its personnel is projected in an efficient way given the process through which the country crosses to substitute imports and take advantage of all the raw material.
