Mayabeque, Cuba: Law 81, called the Environment Law, aims to establish the principles that govern the environmental policy and the basic rules to regulate the environmental management of the State and the actions of citizens and society in general, in order to protect the environment and contribute to achieving the objectives of the country's sustainable development.

The document defines that the environment is patrimony and fundamental interest of the nation. The State exercises its sovereignty over it throughout the national territory and in that sense has the right to take advantage of the resources that compose it according to its environmental and development policy.

It is the duty of citizens and society in general to protect the environment through its conservation and rational use, the systematic fight against the causes that cause its deterioration and the corresponding rehabilitation actions.

In this matter, it is important to increase the knowledge of citizens about the interrelationships of the human being, nature and society, the reduction and elimination of environmentally unsustainable production and consumption modalities and the promotion of demographic policies appropriate to territorial conditions.

In correspondence with these postulates in the municipality of Nueva Paz, the government authorities adopt measures in accordance with Law 81 that protects the environment.
