Mayabeque, Cuba: Raíces is the title of the photographic exhibition of the creator Yovanis González Elizalde, inaugurated this Monday at the José Martí Cultural Society in the province of Mayabeque.

During the month of July, this institution hosts the visual arts exhibition consisting of six images about identity spaces of Güines’culture, instants of the city landscape and its people, as well as places that represent the beliefs of this people.

The artist Yovanis González Elizalde, for the first time, presents his works in this cultural center to show portraits he managed to capture with the lens of his camera with a renewing vision of the digital photography.

The exhibition aims to rescue photographic art, which in Mayabeque had strong roots and has lost strength as an artistic expression in recent times.

"Through documentary photography I seek to encourage in the new generations the love towards the places where we live and create, as an expression of authenticity and defense of what is ours," Yovanis González Elizalde said.
