Since the announcement of the salary increase to the budgeted sector people has not stopped talking about something else. "Find out if I go into the increase," asked my dad, almost centennial, dependent on an austere pension. "In which group are we included?," the colleagues inquire, looking for details about the new scale, now considerably separated from the stoic 385 pesos, with which the guild have subsisted so far. "My husband will be among the beneficiaries?" neighbor, whose husband works in Communal Services asks.
The news spread through the four sides of the Island, when we assumed that "the thing" would worsen, subjected to a cruel harassment, redoubled by extraterritorial laws and measures, before which it seemed that only the worst could come.
However, nobody can underestimate the country's ability to reinvent itself, even in the midst of chaos. It is an intangible reservoir of subsistence, wisely collected over years of siege, from which arises a response to each adversity. That will never be understood by those who superficially analyze Cuba and its people.
When we thought that we were going to spend one of the worst summers of our lives, a strategy arises, which will not be able to fix things alone, but sets the guidelines in advance to move forward.
The salary increase, although it is the most human face of the issue, favors the adoption of other steps on which depend our truly development, from below, gain spaces in the foreign market, and provide solutions to the needs with our own resources and efforts.
Thinking as a country is the maxim launched by President Díaz-Canel and summarizes the essence of successive steps. Only with this supreme conception, stripping us of narrow interpretations, we can assume the current challenge. The main thing is summarized in: strengthening accounting; substitute administrative methods for financial ones; more commitment and personal contribution; increase the results; improve the quality of services; promote productive linkages and exports; strengthen the state company; advance food sovereignty; promote local development; comply with the Housing Policy; and use science to solve problems.
An axis covers these aspects and is the strengthening of national production, its permanent defense and the overcoming of narrow concepts, obstructive mentalities, and decisions that are not in tune with current purposes. This also goes through the grooming of behaviors, and the permanent fight against corruption, theft and lack of control.
The salaries went up, it was the news that many did not even hearcompletely, to run to tell others, comment from porch to porch, in the early talks at groceries, in barbershops and work centers. A decision that invigorates our lives again, renews enthusiasm, impregnates it with hope and makes us think that, despite everything ... we move.
