Mayabeque, Cuba: Despite the shortage of fuel, workers at the Local Production Center for Building Materials North, Jaruco, manufactured 1,435 blocks, 46 joists and more than a hundred small wall tiles in the last twenty days.
According to the technical head of that unit, Yerobis López RodrÃguez, the wall elements are enough to support seven families benefited from the granting of housing construction subsidies.
He said they readjusted work schedules to save electricity, they start earlier and take advantage of the afternoon efficiently to conclude before 5:00 past meridian.
This center, located in the municipal capital, has 25 tons of cement, aggregates and steel, enough to maintain the same productive pace until the end of September.
"An independent producer from the Escaleras de Jaruco community has just joined the local production program, to support the construction and repair of homes by own effort", López RodrÃguez said.
"This worker will be responsible for manufacturing granite tiles, an element of great demand in the territory, for which he has already received a mill, cement and the ideal aggregate", he said.
