Mayabeque, Cuba: Specialists from Mayabeque will participate in a workshop on sugar and its contribution to the economic and social development of the country that begins its sessions tomorrow at the Sugar Training Center (CENCA), the Cuban News Agency publishes.

The first exhibition will be in charge of the poet, narrator, essayist and ethnologist Miguel Barnet Lanza, who will speak about the culture that generated the world of sugar.

From the historical point of view, it will also be about the influence on the evolution of the sugar production of Francisco de Arango y Parreño (1765-1836) and one of the promoters of the creation in 1791 of the Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Country, according to the program, to which the Cuban News Agency had access.

The role of Álvaro Reynoso Valdés (1829-1888), considered the father of Cuban scientific agriculture will focus the attention of the assembly members, while the General Director of ICIDCA, Arodis Caballero Núñez, will refer to the history of sugar chemistry.

The remaining issues have to do with innovation and its impact on the efficiency, productivity and economy of the companies in the sector, the productive chain and the processing of sugarcane with flexible technological schemes.

One of the initiatives of its promoters is the annual organization of this workshop, as well as the creation of a chair on the impact of sugar on the economic and social development of the nation.
