Mayabeque, Cuba: A Technological Scientific Park (PCT) is expected to be built at the Agrarian University of Havana, Fructuoso Rodríguez Pérez, located in Mayabeque, an innovation opportunity, essential for the development of the country.
As it was announced in the Forum of Entrepreneurs and Leaders of Information Technology, it is a project included and approved in the plan of economic and social development of Cuba until 2030, in order to encourage links between companies and centers of higher education, since without innovation there is no progress.
Cuba does not have large extractive deposits of oil and minerals, so the alternative has to be based on the economy of knowledge and intellectual productions.
PCTs are the way in which ideas and projects with an impact on the economy and society can be materialized, by facilitating the creation and growth of innovation-based companies and providing other value-added services along with spaces and facilities of high quality.
The plan includes creating others at the José Antonio Echeverría Technological University of Havana, the University of Havana, and the universities Marta Abreu de las Villas, Matanzas and Holguín.
