Mayabeque, Cuba_ The willingness to contribute to saving lives and the spirit of solidarity of the people of Mayabeque was recently evidenced during the banner of the José Martí’s detachment of volunteer donors, in the popular council Bizarrón, in Guines.

The detachment, composed of students, workers and housewives, facilitates the assurance of transfusions to the hospitals and makes also possible to increase life expectancy and the quality of life of patients and to carry out complex medical and surgical procedures.

Juana Hernandez, local coordinator of the Committee for the Defense of the Revolution in Guines, stressed the importance of stimulating the donors and to incorporate young people into the program.

She added that an aspect which defines is the joint work of the CDR and Public Health sector, from the family doctors’ offices and the area where the donors are identified and summoned.

This year has a special meaning, because the blood donations of José Martí Detachment are dedicated to the 90th birthday of the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro.
