Mayabeque, Cuba: The outstanding repentista of Mayabeque and professor of several generations of poets, Orestes Pérez Tagle, was nominated for the National Community Culture Award.

This improviser is the founder of the Childhood Workshops of Repentismo, created in 2000. He was recognized as a Special Prize at Cubadisco 2010, dedicated to rural music.

Pérez Tagle participated as a jury in National Contests of Repentismo Justo Vega, in Las Tunas, received a Diploma of Recognition for the participation with his décimas in the battle for the freedom of the Five Cuban Heroes imprisoned in the United States.

He currently directs and guides at the same time and also participates as a poet in two Peñas Campesinas in the municipality: Victorino Menéndez, from Vegas and Homero Ramas, in Los Palos.

The National Community Culture Award is granted annually by the Ministry of Culture (MINCULT) and the National Council of Houses of Culture.

This recognition demonstrates the contribution that from the culture can be made in the transformation of lifestyles, behaviors and forms of thoughts that are different to the social project that we defend, in addition to the results achieved in the stimulation of the artistic and literary creation of the population, the enrichment of cultural heritage and in defense of our national identity roots.
