Mayabeque, Cuba: The authorities of Batabanó summon the population to carry out voluntary work in each neighborhood, as one of the measures to combat the spread of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito and thus prevent the onset of diseases.

Today people in the locality are immersed in a campaign to eliminate hatcheries or larvae found in homes, workplaces and students. It is necessary to strengthen the hygienic and epidemiological work. Folding actions, spraying homes and offering educational talks, is also a priority.

Regularly cleaning green areas, covering up trash, changing water tanks frequently and maintaining proper hygiene at work and at home, is to take care of health.

In Cuba we have the influence of the climate (high temperature, high humidity) and the geographical location, factors that cannot be modified; the demographic situation (density, population movements), and the dumping of liquid and solid residuals, which generate foci of the vector. Mosquito reproduction increases with heat. At the slightest carelessness in control measures, disease transmission can be generated.
