Mayabeque, Cuba: The municipality of Madruga reports a low incidence of febrile cases associated with diseases transmitted by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito. Thanks to the preventive work of recent months, which supports the implementation of measures that minimize the proliferation of foci of the dangerous vector, the Dengue, Chicungunya and Zika were substantially eradicated.

In an interview for our website, officials of the Center of Hygiene and Epidemiology, of the locality, explained the preventive actions, with the help of the community, in order to achieve a better environmental health.

When asked the specialists about the factors that hinder the radical elimination of harmful vectors, they replied: “It is not yet possible to perceive by some residents, the risks of the appearance of micro-dumps. Although much has been achieved, people who throw waste into public areas persist without realizing the danger.

In order to combat Aedes Aegypti, a prophylactic work has been maintained and systematic inspections are carried out, while the action of the anti-vector brigades covers residential areas with radio beats to check the transmitter of Dengue and other diseases, said representatives of hygiene and epidemiology and insisted on the need for the cooperation of the entire population to achieve joint work, which requires the success of the task.
