Mayabeque, Cuba_ The municipalities of Bejucal and Madruga stand out in the province for the work of young farmers. Both territories contribute to the crop’s programs of grain, vegetables, spices and fruits, as well as training the new generations and encourage the love for the countryside.

This was known during the meeting held between young farmers in this demarcation with the aim of analyzing the increase of food production for the population.

Andy Gonzalez Quintana, vice president of Benito Juarez Cooperative from Jaruco highlighted the work of young people in agriculture.

"When I took this responsibility, the entity was in economic bankruptcy, today thanks to multiple strategies and hard work, we produce more than 60 tons of cane per hectare for the good of the country," Gonzalez Quintana testified.

Batabano’s farmer Mario Sergio Soto Perez said he has conditions to grow beans and other species, to increase arable areas and diversify himself as a producer.

Julio Heriberto Gómez Casanova, member of the National Bureau of the Young Communists League (UJC), praised the participants for the discussions carried out and highlighted the realistic interventions and the desire to transform agriculture.

"Young people are a mainstay and we can see what is being done in Mayabeque in favor of the peoples’ feeding", the leader praised.
