Mayabeque, Cuba_ Due to the heavy rains in the demarcation, Humberto Hernandez Agricultural Production Cooperative (CPA by its Spanish initials), located in the Guines, implement measures to minimize crop damage.

According to Omar Hernandez, president of the CPA, vegetables and meats, suffered damages due first to the high temperatures and after because of the heavy rains.

The cooperative has implemented a series of actions to improve the yields and reduce the damage in the plantations.

Hernandez added that the diversification is an important strategy to manage the risk of production as well as the wide diversity of crops and varieties to face environmental change among other incidences.
