Mayabeque, Cuba_ The first graduation of nursing technicians will take place in February this year, with students who chose the specialty since ninth grade, the digital site of Mayabeque newspaper reported.

Ana Duadis Alvarez Perez, dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences in the province, explained that in this moment they are carrying out the final theoretical and practical examinations, after what they are going to begin working in the health institutions of the sector.

More than 200 nurses, males and females will be part of special programs, to cover all the needs of the territory, as well as to collaborate with other provinces with the aim of improving the quality of the health system services

Alvarez Perez explained that the students’ preparation starts frat the hospitals and polyclinics as they are being trained, since the first year, at the bedside, besides receiving open classes, theoretical meetings, conferences and other actions to gain a better understanding.

The province has more than 20 technical profiles and graduates of these specialties may decide, based on their performance or preparation for one of the 11 university careers of medical sciences.

In the next five years the medical university center should prepare more than 1000 graduate students for the primary care areas and many other services, while other groups will overcoming the training capacities with registration in profiles like Social Work, Laboratory Technicians, Clinical Analysis, Traumatology, among others.
