Mayabeque, Cuba__ The Municipal Health Department in San José de las Lajas carried out a number of investments during 2016 to improve the quality of services to the population, both in primary and secondary care attention.
The General Teaching Hospital Leopoldito Martínez, was one of the most benefited facilities. The opening of new services, such as the ophthalmology room and the clinical laboratory, are among the most outstanding works to increase patient benefits in the territory.
According to Maribel Díaz Álvarez, municipal director of health in the capital of Mayabeque, the hospital also finished the repairmen of the laundry, the kitchen, and the intensive care room besides the installation of new equipment in the first two areas.
The inauguration of a maternal home in the first quarter of 2016 and the repair of room A, the nursing home, the perimeter fence and the institution's gardens were also an achievement for the municipality. In addition, they worked in family doctor's offices, belonging to the polyclinics Turcios Lima and Rafael Santiago Hechezarreta, both in Mayabeque’s capital.
