Mayabeque, Cuba_ The Provincial Conservation Award 2017 went to the O'Farrill's House, now the Municipal Museum of Madruga, while in the category of  restoration it corresponded to María Arbide's property , belonging to the family Aragón Álvarez in San Nicolás.

The O’Farrill’ House deserved this prize because, according to the jury, it characterizes the domestic architectural type that represents the urban set of Madruga during the nineteenth century and the changes that took place in the last third of that century that have reached our days.

For its part, the Restoration award was granted for the detail and preciosity that the family Aragón Álvarez in San Nicolás made to return to the house its original architectural values and the integration achieved in the new intervention, based on the building codes of the original one.

The award ceremony will take place at the Provincial Assembly on April 18, International Day of Monuments and Sites, which will unveil a photographic mural with images of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro.

As part of the day for the anniversary conferences, conversations in communities that treasure heritage sites and conservation actions and / or maintenance of those sites or monuments that require it are already being held in Mayabeque.

This province has a large and important real estate, of which four are declared national monuments and 16 are local.
