Mayabeque, Cuba_ The restoration of 895.70 hectares of coastal strip, from the Surgidero de Batabanó to Punta Mora, the construction of another 123 thousand in swamp forests and the maintenance of 33 kilometers of ditches and canals, are among the strategies of the project Reduction of environmental vulnerability to floods through adaptation based on ecosystems, in the south of the provinces of Artemisa and Mayabeque. 

The main objectives are: the planting of mangroves, the enrichment of vegetation, the exchange with existing species already recovered, among others, Greisel Falcón Gil, head of the Section of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) in the Administration of Melena del Sur, said.

With an approved budget of more than 5 million dollars for the United Nations Development Program, the project has actions planned until 2019.
