Mayabeque, Cuba_ The agro ecological management of soils is a first order task in San Nicolás, explained the municipal coordinator of the Cuban Association of Agricultural and Forestry Technicians (ACTAF), Belkis León Arencibia.
The actions undertaken in each cooperative include the incorporation of organic material and the use of live barriers to prevent soil erosion, the obtaining of natural fertilizers such as earthworm humus, the application of biological means for the control of pests and the use of renewable energies, among others.
The paradigm is to achieve the development of sustainable agriculture based on agro ecological bases, for which they not only works in the process of training its associates and society, but also in the dissemination, promotion and recognition of all successful experiences.
The ACTAF is listed in the registry of associations of the Republic of Cuba since 1987, with a functional structure broken down into subsidiaries with their own legal personality and in the 14 provinces of the country.
