The foundation of institutions such as the National Center of Agricultural Health (CENSA), the Institutes of Agricultural Sciences (INCA), Animal (ICA), Horticultural Liliana Dimitrova or the Agrarian University recall the constant days of work that at any time and day of the week were held in the presence of the Commander-in-Chief.

He granted special importance to agricultural research and encouraged the creation of centers to promote the scientific work required by Cuba in these specialties.

With great precision he stated the mision of each of those centers: The ICA, which was founded in 1965, would be responsible for animal nutrition and livestock development through research, extension, training, dissemination and efficient collaboration.

INCA was born in 1970 and since then has as its special task to generate and transfer up-to-date knowledge, comprehensive technologies and new products in biotechnology, plant science and sustainable systems to raise agri-food production.

Among the impact products created by its specialists are the biofertilizers EcoMic and Azofert, as well as the biostimulant Quitomax.

On the opening of the new Censa facilities, on September 1, 1980, Fidel said: "I believe that no one denies the tremendous importance that the need to defend the agriculture and livestock in general from diseases, has for a country, in whose economy and well-being, the agriculture plays a fundamental role, ".

Its scientists has successfully combated since then, against pests and diseases introduced by the enemy, including sugarcane rust, tobacco blue mold and African swine fever.

This center, besies researching, develops and markets, and also offers services and impact technologies, in food production, human and animal health. Among his most notable achievements are Stabilak, Cenmast, Klamic and Surfacen.

The mission of the Institute of Horticultural Research Liliana Dimitrova is to provide the technical scientific basis for the productive systems of vegetables, fibers, flowers and condiments plants, a task that has been fulfilled in its 45 years of creation with permanent contact with the production base.

The National Center for Bio-preparations (Biocen) develops the line of reconstituents and antianemics Trofin, Biotrofer, Neotrofin and Neotrofin C, besides therapeutic vaccines against allergic asthma.

For those foundational days of science in the province, Fidel also referred to the need for a university to meet the demands of agriculture, to provide the country with human resources to direct, coordinate and apply science. Today they all make up a Scientific Research Complex of recognized prestige in Cuba and the world, which graduated dozens of students from different latitudes.

There are also other institutions that further strengthen the activity in the province, fulfilling those words of Fidel in which he said: "Science and Science productions, must someday take the first place in the national economy. We have to develop the productions of intelligence. That is our place in the world, there will be no other. "
