Mayabeque, Cuba_ The selection of Güines only needed two of the three games agreed, to keep the supremacy of the Pioneers Baseball Cup, 11-12 years category. 

The team led by mentor José Ángel Miranda defeated San José de las Lajas with disproportionate score, in the final challenges for the crown held in the capital’s stadium.

The two teams came to the discussion of the crown after defeating Melena del Sur, Madruga, Quivicán and Batabanó. In the first game for the title, the visitors gave a super knock out of 23 races for one in only five episodes.

Güines’ pitcher Leandro Perez allowed only two hits to the Lajeros, while his teammates backed him with nine, impeccable defense and took advantage of four errors of the rival side. Robert Suárez was the defeated.

In the second match, Güines unleash again a strong offensive during the eight innings and ended with the aspirations of the challengers, repeating another out of combat, with a colossal board of 21 runs by 11. Brayan González was the winner

Alberto Carlos González Vergara and Israel Gil Leal, integrated also the technical group of the twice provincial champions besides Miranda.

Special mention for the parents and other relatives of the little baseball players of both municipalities, who with their unconditional support in all the material aspects, made it possible for them to come to dispute the provincial crown of the category.

After the contest, the Provincial Commission informed the pre-selection of 27 players, from which will be chosen those who will wear the Mayabeque uniform to the National Championship that will be held in San Nicolás during the week of school break between April 15 and 21.

The chosen ones come from six demarcations, Güines is the most represented with eight, San José contributes five, Quivicán and Melena del Sur have four while Madruga and Nueva Paz have three. Jacinto Capote, from Quivicán, was appointed to lead the children.

The National Zone of the West will have the presence of Pinar del Río, Artemisa, Havana, Matanzas, Isla de la Juventud, Cienfuegos, Villa Clara and of course, Mayabeque.
