Mayabeque, Cuba_ The judo athletes from Guines, San Jose de las Lajas and Batabano, in that order, head the provincial competitions Pioneers Cup, in the category 11-12 years in both sex, held at the Nelson Fernandez Sport Center in the capital of Mayabeque.

The winner team participated with 10 athletes, five females and the same amount of boys, and won eight golden medals, a second and third place. San Jose reached four, two and two, while Batabano achieved 2-5-1.

The five girls from Guines that attended the event won the first places in their respective divisions. Rocio Perez in 32 kg, Stefany Batista in 36, Nathaly Suarez dominated in the 40, Tayli Pardia in 52 and Yeraime Batista followed their steps in the 56 kg.

Dunia Cisneros from Batabano, complete the champions group winning the crown in the 53 kg.

The first places of the eight divisions corresponding to the boys’s lid were divided among four athletes from San Jose de las Lajas, three from Guines and one from Batabano.

The winners in their respective divisions were Harold Adrian Padrón in 30 kilograms, Henry Nelson Área (34), Yoandy Marcos Hernández (42) and Diego Carrasco (56), all from the capital of our province.

The same result for Jonathan Rojas (38), Yosvany Vasallo (48) and Kennedy Fernández (60), all from Guines. The champion list also included Jireivis Martinez from Batabano, titular in 64 kilograms.

According to Roberto Perez, Guines team trainer, besides the already mentioned municipalities, there were participating athletes from Jaruco, Nueva Paz, Quivican and Bejucal.

The majority of the medal winners may be selected to be part of the pre selection of Mayabeque’s team that is going to participate in the National Zone Competitions in Villa Clara next April.
