Mayabeque, Cuba_ The team of Mayabeque gave the great surprise of the Western National Baseball Championship Pioneers Cup, when closing its performance with three consecutive victories to conquer one of the three tickets to the final for the title of the category 11-12 years.

With that result the group became the second of this young province, which qualifies for a national baseball final, coincidentally in the same category.

In the goodbye day, in the first game at Urbano González Basanta stadium in Catalina de Güines, the children of Jacinto Capote knocked out 17 by seven the team of Artemisa and concluded with a record of four victories in seven challenges.

Artemisa, seven runs with seven hits and four errors, Mayabeque 17 runs with ten hits and a mistake at the defense. The victory was for Alexander Fraga and Yusnier Guzmán achieved the defeat.

Those of our province began with triumph over Villa Clara, one of the favorites, but then fell successively before Pinar del Río, Matanzas and Cienfuegos.

When virtually no one thought of the first three places, Mayabeque’s team grew up and defeated Isla de la Juventud, knocked out the potent team of Havana and gave the same medicine to the Artemiseños.

The three Western teams that secured tickets to discuss the title of the category are Pinar del Río (6-1), Matanzas and Mayabeque (both with 4 and 3). Villa Clara, Havana, Cienfuegos, Artemisa and Isla de la Juventud placed behind.

The trio from the West will be joined by Santiago de Cuba, Ciego de Avila and Granma, that qualified in the eastern tournament carried out in Granma. The grand final of that pioneers’ category will begin on May 8 in Granma.
