Mayabeque, Cuba_ The first woman to conquer a medal in World Wrestling Championships for Cuba without age limits is from Mayabeque.
That glory corresponds to Lianna de la Caridad Montero Herrera, from Güines, who continues making history, because she managed to inscribe her name at the top of this sport. He has just won the bronze medal in the  55 kilograms on the third date of the contest, held at the Lazlo Papp Sports Arena in Budapest, capital of Hungary.
If the silver in the Under-23 World Cup in Tampere, Finland, was to that day the prize of the highest rank in her extensive harvest of awards, this bronze medal is the one that shines the brightest in her already rich track record, since it allows the Greater Island of the Antilles to appear in the list of female medalists in world events at the highest level.
On Monday Lianna debuted with a 16-6 loss with the Belarusian Salina Sidakova, but the European continued in the organization chart to be included among the finalists and dragged our country’s athlete to the repechage.
To maintain her aspirations of climbing to the podium she would have the hard task of facing two other quoted rivals. The Vietnamese Thi Ly Kieu beat her by technical superiority of 10-0 and to discuss the bronze she faced the American Jacarra Gwenisha Winchester, whom she dominated in strong combat that favored her by the narrow score of 5-4.
The consecrated feat of the Mayabeque’s woman elevates her to the universal elite and reaffirms her as one of the Cuban women with the best results in the young history of the female wrestling and a potential candidate to represent our country in the Tokyo 2020 Olympiad.
In addition to Lianna’s medal, Cuba ended its performance in the men's free style with one gold and two bronze medals.
