Mayabeque, Cuba_ The International Master Henry Soto and Yudislendis Hernández, both from Güines, won the highest place in the participatory chess tournament, which takes place the last Saturday of every month at the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Academy in this village of Mayabeque.

The event had the presence of 42 chess players divided into two groups. Among the novices 32 children competed by the Swiss system to six rounds. For their part, the eight adult players faced each other in two laps.

The first three places in the children's category were occupied by the girl Yudislendis Hernández with five and a half points in six rounds, followed by Juan Enrique Boyet and José Luis Fraile, both only half a line from the winner.
Special mention deserves the small María Carla Ravelo Báez, of seven years, of excellent performance when achieving four and a half units.

According to the information provided by Professor Hipólito Barrios, organizer and referee of the tournament, in the elite group of players with higher category, the favorite International Master Henry Soto, the best chess player currently in Mayabeque, obtain the title.

Henry added 13 units in the 14 matches held and surpassed by three points his closest supporter, provincial expert Leonal Olano, from San José de las Lajas.

The third and fourth positions were shared by two provincial experts, Eduardo González and Raúl Cordero, who accumulated six and a half lines, but the jump-off placed them in the aforementioned order.
