Mayabeque, Cuba_ With a total of five medals, the team of Mayabeque occupied the fourth place by provinces, in the fourth scoring phase, in pursuit of the National Motocross Championship, held this weekend at the Paso del RÃo runway in Güines.
The squad directed by Rolando Quiñones Pérez and Jesús DomÃnguez, won two first, two seconds and a third place, in the contest attended by pilots from nine provinces of the ten where this spectacular and attractive discipline is practiced.
Winners in their respective categories and cubicajes were the little Gabrielito Alonso Padrón, only 6 years old, and Radiel Allende Verdecia, both from Güines. The younger easily itriumphed in the category of five to ten years, escorted by Yoan Ernesto Pupo from HolguÃn and Alejandro Carmona, from Pinar del RÃo.
For his part Radiel imitated him, but in the event for over 20 years, where they deal with more experienced motorcycles with higher power. Behind Radiel placed Leandro Ricardo RodrÃguez, from HolguÃn and also the host driver Carlos Cabrera Dávila.
The locals Maikol Suárez Hidalgo, in category 11-15, with special motorcycles and the veteran Lázaro Michel Machuá, both driving special machines also occupied positions on the podium.
Maikol was preceded only by Biagna Xiomara MartÃnez, from Pinar del RÃo, the only female who competes in this sport in our country. On the other hand, Machuá in spite of injuring a foot, showed his mastery to stay in silver, only behind the habanero Luis Manuel Jean Jaque.
By provinces, the first three were Pinar del RÃo, with 342 points, HolguÃn 279, and Sancti SpÃritus 220; Mayabeque stood on the fourth step.
