Mayabeque, Cuba_ María Antonia Suárez, from Mayabeque, won a second place and so the silver medal in the National Weightlifting Championship for disabled people, held in Santa Clara.

According to the report of the vice president of the Cuban Association of Physical-Motor Limits (ACLIFIM) in Mayabeque, Regla Armenteros, athletes from several provinces participated in the contest, for the demarcation participated two, the award-winning and Pastora Vatt.

This contest is held annually and is sponsored by the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER), together with the ACLIFIM. It is the first time that it is based in the Eduardo García room, in the province of Villa Clara.

The locals had several athletes of this discipline, who are national champions, in addition to César Rubio Guerra, Para Panamerican champion and native of Sagua la Grande.

As news, the weightlifter Lianet González Torres, national youth record holder in the 40 kilograms and Javier Alejandro Ayrado Jiménez, in the 74, who competed for the first time.

The national sports advisor for people with disabilities, Roberto Panfet Caballero, positively assessed the physical conditions of the participants. He added about the importance of this event as preparation for the Para PanAmerican planned for this 2019 in Lima, Peru.
