Mayabeque, Cuba_ Liuris Marta Figueredo from San José de las Lajas, won the women's race corresponding to the Varadero Half Marathon, with time of one hour 21 minutes and 23 seconds.

The 28-year-old runner is living a dream season. On February 16, she also won the first place in the Cacahual-Ciudad Deportiva Half Marathon, as well as the 10 thousand meters of the Cuba Cup, based in the east of the Cuban capital.

She also won a silver medal in the emblematic Incendio de Bayamo and a bronze in the Viaducto de la Farola, in Guantánamo.

The triumph in Varadero, gave this woman the title of National Champion of Half Marathon and it assured her the presence in the test of 21 kilometers and 97 meters, to be disputed this same month, in the Island of Guadalupe.

"This year I liked most the race, the sun punished us less, especially in the first part," Marta Figueredo said.

This time, the silver medal was for Mileydis Vargas with one hour 21 minutes and 55 seconds and the bronze for Yurisleydis Mestres, with one 27 and 41.

On the other hand, in the men's field, Bejucal’s Fernando Ronny Estevez finished in a creditable fifth place, of a test dominated by the Kenyan Timothy Kiplagat.
