Mayabeque, Cuba: Lianna de la Caridad Montero was one of the winners of the Cuban Fighting Gala held at the Arturo Lince González gym, in Nueva Gerona, Isla de la Juventud, this weekend.

In an attractive program of 17 combats the 21-year-old güinera defeated without too much complication the talented Ángela Álvarez.

The other winners in the female branch were Yusneilis Guzmán, in the 50 kilograms, Lilianet Duanes in the 53, Yaquelin Estornell, in 62 and Mabelquis Capote, in 76.

Lianna de la Caridad, owner of the 57 kilograms, became the first Cuban in 2018 to win a medal in world championships of that sport, which is why she was recognized in this capital.

The National Commissioner and president of the Cuban Federation of Struggles, Luis de la Portilla thanked the local authorities for having served as the venue of the training of the men's wrestling team for years.

On Monday the women's and men's teams of the Greco-Roman style will travel to a training base in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, while the free style teams will do so in the coming days to Argentina, a country where the three teams will meet to discuss the continental championship between the 16th and the 22nd of this month.
