Mayabeque, Cuba_ The Athlete from Mayabeque Lianna de la Caridad Montero added a new achievement to her outstanding sport life, when conquering the Golden medal in the XXVI Granma-Cerro Pelado Wrestling International Tournament, held at Havana’s Sport City Coliseum.
Guines’ gladiator showed her progress and fighting spirit with victories in two difficult combats in the 58 kilograms, where she faced foreign rivals of higher international experience.
In her first combat she reduces the disadvantage of three points with Ecuatorian Lisset Antes, an athlete classified to attend the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Montero was not intimidated, she improved her attacks, defended herself better and rapidly could apply a tackle to the legs, action that gave her 4 points, enough to win with close score of 4 to 3.
In her second combat she was obliged to defeat Dominican Jessia Oviedo to achieve the golden medal. Again, Lianna de la Caridad, began with adverse score of 0-4 but she demonstrated her excellent physical conditions and with similar offensive to that of the other combat, she achieved the draw.
With continuous attacks, she applied three valid actions that gave her wide advantage of 10 to four, without allowing her rival to achieve other two points and the combat ended 10 to 6 for the mayabequense.
Lianna rose to the highest part of the podium with another wealthy prize. She adds this one, to the bronze medal won months ago in the Frisco Panamerican Championship in the United States and her three national crowns of the first category and the same number between the young league.
