19 players coming from different provinces participated in the competition, developed by the Swiss system to seven rounds.

Two Masters Fide of Havana riched the first places, the first one, Ernesto Javier Fernández, unbeaten with six and half units and single half step after him, placed Jorge Wilson León, only in taking half point from the winner.

The third place corresponded to the also Master Fide Jorge Marcos Gómez, from Matanzas who achieved five points.

For the Mayabequenses the best placed athlete was the International Master Henry Soto, with poor personal acting that located him in the fifth step with only four lines.
