Mayabeque, Cuba_ The Great Master of Mayabeque Leinier Domínguez achieved the silver medal when defending the first board of the 42 World Chess Olympiad that ends in Bakú.       

The best Cuban and Latin American achieved three consecutive victories with 7, 5 points that places him as the first chessboard and the second place of the Olympiad.                                                                  

The golden medal was reached by the Georgian Great Master, Baadur Jobava that accumulated eight points, while the American Fabiano Caruana won the bronze medal with seven points.         

This is the fifth medal of Cuba in World Olympiads in the male branch, the previous ones were achieved in 1 939, Jose Raul Capablanca’s golden medal, bronze of Silvino García in 1 978, gold in 1 998 for Reynaldo Vera, silver of Isan Ortiz in 2 014, and this silver medal corresponding to the idol of Güines in the 42th World Chess Olympiad.
