Mayabeque, Cuba__ The Commemorative Stamp 50 Anniversary of Cerro Pelado was granted to the four athletes of Mayabeque who were part of the historical Delegation of the Dignity that represented Cuba in the X Central American and the Caribbean Games, held in Puerto Rico in 1966.

The baseball players from Guines Urbano González Basanta, well-known as Catalina's Peasant, Antonio (Ñico) Jiménez Casadevalle and Maximiliano Reyes Conde, of Quivicán, and the cyclist Sergio (Pipián) Martínez, from Madruga, participated in the historical voyage where Cuba made its rights worth and stopped the imperialistic maneuvers to impede the participation of our sportsmen in that Caribbean competition.

The sportsmen lived a true odyssey to arrive to the headquarters of the event, they suffered risks, pursuit, blackmails, physical and psychological aggressions, but finally they completed the purpose of being present, to compete and to demonstrate the strength of the revolutionary sport movement.

After half century of the odyssey of the Cerro Pelado motorship, all their main participants receive the recognition of the Cuban people and its institutions, through the delivery of the commemorative medal.

During the ceremony, held at the Provincial EIDE in Guines, the relatives of Ñico Jiménez received the stamp as a posthumous tribute.

In the same way, during the activity held with the cyclists that participated in the X Classic Pipián Matinez carried out in Madruga, Luis Rosendo González, director of INDER in the locality delivered the Distinction to the relatives of the king of the Cuban highways.

In the stadium Heroes of Mayabeque of Güines, took place a moving act, where Luis Manuel Valdés León, head of the department of sport activities in the county, gave the valuable recognition to Catalina's Peasant who later narrated the experiences lived during the trip and during the competitions, where the Cuban baseball returned with the golden medal of gold and that of the dignity.

As the sport leader announced, they will give the Stamp to the family of the former pitcher Maximiliano Reyes Conde.
