Mayabeque, Cuba_ The baseball team Hurricanes of Mayabeque not only played ball in the recently concluded qualifying stage of the 56th National Series, they also visited a group of institutions, companies and hospitals, where the players exchanged with members of those work staffs.
At the Melena 2 penitentiary, Lieutenant Colonel Yosvany Quintana Torres, Head of the Unit, gave a detailed explanation on the prison’s functioning, the missions to be met by soldiers and officers, as well as the treatment given to the prisoners.
The moment was propitious to establish a dialogue with some of them and check the possibilities they have today to rejoin society as new men.
The Base Business Unit Augusto Cesar Sandius, belonging to the National Bus Station Company, was also visited by the Hurricanes, where they made recognition to Javier Fernández Blanco (Chinese), member of the UEB and driver of their bus throughout the season.
They also toured the entity, exchanged with workers and learned about their payment systems and the main results of the group, prominent among those of its kind in the country.
Almost in the final part of the qualifying stage, led by Vannoy Arado, they went to the National Institute of Oncology and Radiology.
In the hospital the visit was aimed at the pediatric ward, where team members made a donation for children, in addition to learn about the careful attention the little kids receive.
Nice experience put into practice by the province’s team this season; sometimes is not just about balls and strikes, it is also to feel part of the people, sharing with the population, accompanying them in pain or celebrate their joys, is like connecting a grand slam.
