Mayabeque, Cuba_ The XVIII edition of the Softball Tournament Jorge Luis Valdés Riondo in memoriam, which gathered more than a hundred professionals of the press of the whole country, concluded in Mayabeque with the triumph of the National Media team.
Los Vaqueros’s team, which included journalists from the province and Artemisa, was second, f accompanied in the stand by Camaguey.
Next placed the representatives of Holguín, Las Tunas, Sancti Spíritus, Ciego de Avila, Guantanamo, Matanzas and Santiago de Cuba.
The championship took place in the municipality of Santa Cruz del Norte and the games were played in three stadiums of this municipality and one of Jaruco. Las Caletas camping, in Santacruz were the headquarters for all the participants.
A wide program of activities was carried out during the event, including visits to centers of economic and social interest, methodological workshops and a meeting with the main authorities in the region.
Among the individual leaders was a representative of Los Vaqueros, the stellar pitcher Reinaldo Fuentes, who achieved the highest number of victories and was the most valuable among his age.
Different bodies and entities from Mayabeque were recognized for their support to the event, as well as the directions of Sport of Jaruco and Santa Cruz del Norte. In this sense Antonio Moltó, President of the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC), highlighted the organization of the country's youngest province after hosting the contest.
The XVIII edition of the Softball Tournament Jorge Luis Valdés Riondo in memoriam is history, the media professionals have return to their provinces and their hard work, but once again there were anecdotes to tell, meetings between old friends and commitment to do it next year again.
