Mayabeque, Cuba__ Carlos Raúl Hernández, member of the Pre-National Junior Table Tennis Team, was the most distinguished athlete of the trio who represented the province of Mayabeque in the traditional Copa Cerro Pelado, which most recent edition has just been concluded In the National Center of High Performance Athletes (CEAR) Giraldo Cordova Cardin, of the Cuban capital.

The talented athlete was awarded three prizes, one gold forby team, silver in the modality of masculine double and the bronze medal in the individual contest; excellent results which ratified him as the tennis athlete that achieve more medals in the province in recent times.

In the tournament Carlos Raúl was accompanied by Raonel Labrador and Carlos Brayan Valdés, from Bejucal, who lead the national ranking of the sub-13 and sub-11 years respectively, of which they were monarchs in the last National School Games.

Despite the young age of these young athletes who played with experienced and older rivals, Labrador got a place on the awards podium to receive a meritorious bronze medal in the team event. For his part Carlos Brayan achieved a fourth place as a member of a mixed team with players from other provinces.

According to Professor Noel Hernandez, one of the efficient coaches of the discipline at the Rancho Recreo Provincial Center in Bejucal, headquarters of the table tennis team of Mayabeque, the event had a good qualitative level, because besides the members of the national pre selections Elite and youth, the most talented players from several provinces were present.
