Mayabeque, Cuba_ Jaruco’s athlete Niulis Gonzalez Gala is in the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud since a few days ago as part of the training that the National Women's Weightlifting Team receives to attend the Pan American Senior Championships.  

This year, the high competitive level event will be based in Miami, United States, from July 21 to 28.

According to the report of Yuniel Rodriguez Chavez, the jaruqueña commented in his Facebook profile that she will once again compete in the category of the 53 kilograms, and expects to surpass or maintain her current records of 96 kilos in the modality of push and 75 in start.

She also said that her participation in the Pan American Championship of Seniors will be somewhat difficult, because she is now recovering from an injury in her right shoulder, after her performance in the National Lid of Lifting Weights, on May 17 last.

This is the second time that Niulis González Gala attends an event in the northern country, after intervening in 2016 in the World Championship of the discipline that hosted the city of Houston.

Jorge Luis Barcelán, president of the Cuban Weightlifting Federation, told the Cuban News Agency that the goal of the preparation will be to reach the adecuate sport form for the continental event, qualifying for the Central American and Caribbean Games of Barranquilla 2018, and the Pan American Games of Lima 2019.

The director explained that from July 20, the delegation that will represent Mayabeque will be living towards US territory, while from September 17 to 24 in Guatemala there is another contest that only gives quotas to the center-Caribbean lid in Colombia.
