Fidel and the youth of the centenary consider our National Apostle José Martí for the legacy of his ideas the intellectual author of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, on July 26, 1953.

According to the president of the José Martí Cultural Society Branch in Mayabeque, Mercedes Caridad Guerra González, the doctrines of the most universal of Cubans were always in defense of our country so that we could be a free and sovereign country.

Hence the validity of their thinking, this has always been present since the stage in which the young people decided to take the path of the armed struggle to end the exploitation existing at that time.

Fidel was a disciple of Martí, he maintained his legacy until the new generations and materialized all this thought with the Cuban Revolution.

A single sentence of Fidel Castro would suffice in the days of Moncada, pronounced by him emphatically in the allegation of self-defense of the events of July 26, 1953, known as History Will Absolve me that ratify the above: "I bring in my heart the doctrines of the Master and in the thought the noble ideas of all men who have defended the freedom of peoples."
