There are events that mark the story. Those are dates that remain in the hearts of the people because they leave indelible marks where they must continue to travel through.
July 26, 1953 was from those days in which the leading role of youth, bravery, the denunciation of the evils of the government in office, the definitive announcement that the Cuban people wanted true independence joined.
There was no other way. The collapse of other alternatives to rescue the country from the murderous hands and their foreign masters, promoted among the new generations of patriots the armed struggle as the path to reverse national chaos.
It was the consequent interpretation of the current reality, to which the tradition of inherited combat of those who marched to the jungle a century earlier to fight against Spanish colonialism, among them the one that Fidel defined as the intellectual author of the historical fact: José MartÃ, was added .
Although the assaults on the Moncada barracks, in Santiago in Cuba, and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, in Bayamo, did not have the planned success, they were not mere skirmishes at the gates of military strengths.
In front the walls of these buildings, the youth of the centenary made it clear that it was possible to attack and defeat the professional armies created under the dictatorships imposed from outside. On July 26, he demonstrated that it was possible to achieve the political, economic and social change that Cubans so longed for since the beginning of the wars for independence.
From that moment the actions in Santiago de Cuba and Bayamo became the foundation for what would come next; the fight in hiding, the landing of the Granma Yacht, the fight in the mountains and the plain, until the final triumph of January 1, 1959.
Then began a transformative process that Fidel had promised in his plea History Will Absolve me, a Revolution where the people were protagonists, an example that the United States government wanted to destroy since its beginning when it suspended the entry of fuel into the country, it was clear since then the essence of the White House’s policy towards Cuba.
The decision to resist and move forward has since then become an eternal July 26. It was not necessary to assault new barracks, but to fight against the mercenary gangs, sabotages, the introduction of plagues, against those who murdered teachers because they literate the people.
The confirmation that we would continue along the chosen path had a high impact within and beyond our borders, when that same people dressed as a militiaman dealt the first great military defeat of imperialism in the lands of America. From that moment on, the history of Cuba and Latin America definitely changed.
From then on, there has not been an American administration that after the approval to the anti-Cuban mafia based in Miami, give up insisting again and again to put out the libertarian fire that sprang from the heart of the youth of the centenary guided by Martà and Fidel.
It is the same flame that 66 years later we, the one living today in this archipelago, keep, to reject the hysterical and interfering policy of the current president of the United States, Donald-Trump. If the current president of the so-called "great nation" had spent some time getting to know our history, he would not have made so many mistakes against a country that acts as resistance and patriotism, an eternal July 26.
