Havana, Cuba_ Heroes who participated in the assaults on the Moncada and Manuel de Céspedes Garrisons, on July 26, 1953, and the Granma yacht expedition, are touring sites of historic, social and economic interest of Pinar del Rio, as part of the activities to mark National Rebellion Day, this July 26, Radio Habana Cuba publishes.
The visit, which will continue through July 26 itself, includes museums, community projects and some of the restoration works recently undertaken across the province.
The group could appreciate the transformations in the Parque José Martí; the restoration of the monument to the Bronze Titan, Antonio Maceo, at the site of the battle of Las Taironas; and exchanged with the main Party and government authorities in Vueltabajo.
In this regard, Moncada combatant Ramón Gerardo Gutiérrez Santos told that the achievements of Pinar del Río, seen in indicators such as its low infant and maternal mortality rates, and in a range of areas where the Revolution has worked intensely.
Meanwhile, Ramón Pez Ferro, another of the participants in the Moncada referred to the changes that the province has experienced, and stated that “it can no longer be referred to as the “black sheep” of the country, thanks to the important achievements in all aspects.”
